The marine life of the Scotia Sea includes about 100 species of fish, several species of whales and seals.

A common fish in the Scotia Sea

Numerous species are mackerel icefish, Notothenia, southern blue whiting, Macrourus, etc. Along the coast, fish such as hake, gilthead bream, goby, smelt, mullet, salmon, Atlantic cod, sebastes, halibut, etc. are very abundant. 

Arthropods and molluscs of the Scotia Sea

The waters are rich in krill, food for fish, whales and seabirds. The banks are rich in crustaceans and molluscs.
