The Balearic Sea is very rich in species, but the number of representatives of these species is small.

There is extensive commercial fishing in the Balearic Sea, mainly for scomber, clupea, anchovy, tuna, mullet, sebastes and trachurus, as well as shark.

The Balearic Sea is home to many molluscs: squid, crab, octopus and achelata.

Mammals of the Balearic Sea

The Bolear Sea is home to many cetaceans including whales, dolphins and porpoises. It is home to the fin whale, short-beaked dolphin, long-finned pilot whale, Risso's dolphin, orca, false killer whale, striped dolphin, bottlenose dolphin, sperm whale and Cuvier's beaked whale.

Sharks of the Balearic Sea 

The Bolear Sea is home to almost all sharks including Great white shark, but Blue shark, Tiger shark and Bull shark are more common. Although shark attacks in general are very rare here.

Loggerhead, green and leatherback turtles can be found throughout the Balearic Sea.
