A common fish of the Celtic Sea
The Celtic Sea is rich in fish. Its waters are home to a variety of fish species, including sea trout, salmon, cod, micromesistius, Atlantic horse mackerel, pentaceros richardsoni and many others. Fishing for cod, horse mackerel, hake, shrimp, squid and micromesistius plays an important role in the industrial component of the surrounding communities.
Mammals of the Celtic Sea
Marine mammals such as dolphins and seals are common off the Celtic Sea coast. Four species of cetaceans are commonly seen in the area: Minke whale, Bottlenose dolphin, short-billed common dolphin and Harbour porpoise.
