• Antennae

Antennas are the sensory organs of some fish. They are located on the front of the head. They vary in number and size depending on the species. Finfish and catfish have several pairs of antennae, mullet have one pair, and cod have one unpaired antennae. These organs are also used to determine the taste of food. Many deep-sea fish such as photoblepharon, anchovy, axefish and deep-sea anglerfish have luminescent organs.
